Burke, Marjorie Hill, Margaret Flagg, Lavinia Norman, Lucy Diggs Slowe, and Marie Woolfolk;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas these 9 young women founded Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, on the 5 original core tenets: to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards; to promote unity and friendship among college women; to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature; to maintain a progressive interest in college life; and to be of <quote>Service to All Mankind</quote>;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, was successfully incorporated on January 29, 1913;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, since its founding in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, membership now includes over 1,000 chapters internationally, with more than 120,000 active members, and has initiated more than 325,000 members worldwide;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, is dedicated to implementing programs of service that enhance the well-being of local, national, and international communities;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the theme of that service program for 2022–2026 is <quote>Soaring to Greater Heights of Service &amp; Sisterhood</quote> and will involve 6 initiatives, namely—</text><paragraph id="H41A891A8C4AB4F4BACAAC565D8634F2B"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Strengthen Our Sisterhood;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H50AE9396045849E9B4F1D545EF00E218"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Empower Our Families;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H97DE391FF3BB4643B7F689F23ECCF94C"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Build Our Economic Wealth;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF13C43C8561D4B39BAAC37182473ED7D"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Enhance Our Environment;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H10A2F7A619564BA9A3719595C3C82BB7"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Advocate for Social Justice; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD33CB58FCE344E76A96F8204CF0C2EAE"><enum>(6)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Uplift Our Local Community;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®’s present administration looks to use each of these initiatives to empower members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, among its many accomplished members, Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman to occupy the Office of the Vice President of the United States, is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H39A53ABD07F840FB87536C0ACC33A107"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H1576E61A9ABD405884F4124FD1CA8B74"><enum/><text>That the House of Representatives congratulates and commends Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, on 115 years of service.</text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
