RES. 1386</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240725">July 25, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="U000040">Ms. Underwood</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Committee on Oversight and Accountability</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives on Project 2025.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would strip away Americans’ most fundamental rights and freedoms;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would devastate working families across America, raising costs, lowering wages, destroying our environment, and dismantling access to health care;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would slash vital lifelines like Social Security and Medicare and make hardworking American taxpayers work longer for less;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would remove protections for people with pre-existing health conditions, raise prescription drug prices, ban Medicare from negotiating lower drug costs, and put a new tax on health insurance for people who get coverage at work;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would criminalize abortion nationwide, restrict access to birth control, and even ban fertility services like IVF;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would allow government agents to monitor pregnancies to potentially prosecute parents if they miscarry;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would cut school meals for kids, end Head Start for preschoolers, slash public school funding, and fire teachers across the country;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would raise costs and slash investments for working families to give huge new tax breaks to billionaires, CEOs, and the biggest corporations;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, threatens America’s national security and our ability to compete across the globe;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would destroy fundamental checks and balances on Presidential powers; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Project 2025, if enacted, would terminate the United States Constitution: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="HAA5E42DCDF3F4A0E99D4985896C9A5CA"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H5547C61E66E94F6791D3555BF94D540C"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the House of Representatives condemns in the strongest terms Project 2025.</text></section></resolution-body></resolution>
