<section id="HA5A28C25EA0F4BB5A37028795D9B9217" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
<subsection id="HF5A381BA12F94C66A72154686827A04B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Short title</header><text>This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Advisory Committee on the Records of Congress Sunset Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></subsection></section> <section id="HEF96F5B2FEA54E9281A2D9841F0044E7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Management and preservation of the records of congress</header> <subsection id="H0D5410B4EC344799AF5BD24ECC84A9B7"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section—</text>
<paragraph id="HB3F971916AF248249E5CAA9ED1CBD3E1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the term <quote>Archivist</quote> means the Archivist of the United States;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H01213AEC9CA34B69B27A49A53CF9DF72"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the term <quote>Clerk</quote> means the Clerk of the House of Representatives;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H46BD117832DA4A95B2691721A55BD734"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the term <quote>Director</quote> means the Director of the Center for Legislative Archives of the National Archives, or any successor thereto;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H9FE0608F87E64A1CA59C869D3D84A8B1"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the term <quote>Member of Congress</quote> means a Member of the Senate or the House of Representatives, a Delegate to the House of Representatives, and the Resident Commissioner from Puerto Rico; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H9D0121A2362941A9982B219044A93D28"><enum>(5)</enum><text>the term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of the Senate.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H1E9D53CD6D0D4A7F845B726E02ECE162"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Reporting</header><text>Not later than February 1 of the second calendar year beginning after the date of enactment of this Act, and every calendar year thereafter, the Director shall submit to the Archivist, the Secretary, and the Clerk a report on the management and preservation of the records of Congress during the previous year.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H3749AE3BF45743E79BA30E435AC446D1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Review</header><text>The Archivist, the Secretary, and the Clerk shall meet to review the management and preservation of the records of Congress and Members of Congress—</text> <paragraph id="H3593DA9565D84335A7C4012547DA58BE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>not later than 60 days after the date on which the Director submits a report under subsection (b); and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H075556622DE340DDBEF5A1BEAEEC63DA"><enum>(2)</enum><text>not later than 180 days after the date on which an individual is appointed to the position of Archivist, Secretary, or Clerk.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HFC8D510C21324B6D9E1F35A7CDF2ECE9"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Sunset of advisory committee</header><text>Effective on the date that is 60 days after enactment, title 44 of the United States Code is amended—</text>
<paragraph id="H168F5CDEE94148EDA97200F20CF42118"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking chapter 27;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H8FA08BC103F44D588E8424F51FD6EC43"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the table of sections relating to chapter 27; and</text></paragraph>
