R. 894</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230209">February 9, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001285">Ms. Brownley</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide for limitations on copayments for contraception furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H440FFFA13D26426892EB3672189D7AE1" style="OLC"><section id="H405E1DF2F3FB43F8AE81E3DC8815A94E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Equal Access to Contraception for Veterans Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7352FCFD7EDC437BAEDFEF15C38BB1EE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Limitation on copayments for contraception</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1722A(a)(2) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H56099C5925854B79B8A2070BB8A3CFC9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>to pay</quote> and all that follows through the period and inserting <quote>to pay—</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4C3A5C705F7E496E9A1F79E14B17CE9D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H942A4862A73B4400B50ACE80FC3D0A62" style="USC"><subparagraph id="H4F4476A30CEC4CDAAE779449BBF6A0BD" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an amount in excess of the cost to the Secretary for medication described in paragraph (1); or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H5FF28A982AF945C2B0FE32AA6E79ABC4" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>an amount for any contraceptive item for which coverage under health insurance coverage is required without the imposition of any cost-sharing requirement pursuant to section 2713(a)(4) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300gg-13">42 U.S.C. 300gg–13(a)(4)</external-xref>).</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
