<section id="H110E5884FD684A3492C5D1A62EAEF4E3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>American Homeowner Crypto Modernization Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H3DCB9449F7E641158463D289A5964B83"><enum>2.</enum><header>Consideration of cryptocurrency exchange brokerage account amounts</header> <subsection id="HD8FCFC9D09814DEBB1247D9D3B706823"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than the expiration of the 24-month period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, each head of a covered agency shall, update the automated mortgage underwriting programs, guidelines, standards, and systems of such covered agency in a manner to require participating mortgage lenders to consider, in the mortgage credit evaluation process, any amounts in United States dollars a borrower has in any brokerage account associated with a cryptocurrency exchange.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H2D92C35D0BB14F6AB2F1C06A64206A08"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Covered agency</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>covered agency</quote> means—</text> <paragraph id="HB6692AAB834D4CAD8DF47DC95D28FC1E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Department of Housing and Urban Development;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H1F0B366427D14903B8D5D2077B831BDB"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the Department of Agriculture;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H8198EE09B65B422D93AC75BC993EFF77"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the Department of Veterans Affairs; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H030D237B01354CE3BF2FED1A1B889950"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Federal Housing Finance Agency, except that any requirement imposed by this section on such Agency or the Director of such Agency shall be treated as a requirement with respect to the mortgage underwriting programs or systems of the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, to be imposed and enforced pursuant to the authority of such Director and Agency to supervise and regulate such enterprises.</text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
