R. 7932</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240410">April 10, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000026">Mr. Nehls</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="H001077">Mr. Higgins of Louisiana</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000581">Mr. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000577">Mr. Graves of Louisiana</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="E000235">Mr. Ezell</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001212">Mr. Moore of Alabama</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M000194">Ms. Mace</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000032">Mr. Donalds</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000814">Mr. Weber of Texas</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001291">Mr. Babin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000478">Mr. Fry</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000596">Mrs. Luna</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000595">Ms. Letlow</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="B001257">Mr. Bilirakis</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit Federal funds from being made available to international financial institutions for the purposes of financing foreign shrimp farms, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H0607BEC3F6464F289067DF4E827BB803" style="OLC"><section id="HFC9C59463CCB4B29910E12037A5C7670" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Save Our Shrimpers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HB794358CFD374F20AFAB4C0E777BE77C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition on making Federal funds available to international financial institutions to finance foreign shrimp farms</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Secretary of the Treasury shall condition any provision of Federal funds to an international financial institution (as defined in section 1701(c)(2) of the International Financial Institutions Act) on the requirement that the funds not be used to finance any activity relating to shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or the export of shrimp in any foreign country.</text></section><section id="HFAFCE5D1DFE74E4C9A4AF9B9370F988C"><enum>3.</enum><header>Annual GAO report on compliance by the United States Executive Directors at certain international financial institutions with instruction to oppose international financial institution assistance for the production or extraction of export commodities or minerals in surplus on world markets</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Within 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act and annually thereafter, the Comptroller General shall investigate, and submit to the Congress a written report on, the extent to which the United States Executive Directors at the institutions specified in section 22 of the Export-Import Bank Act Amendments of 1986 have carried out the instructions described in such section.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
