R. 7741</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240320">March 20, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001309">Mr. Burchett</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="F000459">Mr. Fleischmann</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000591">Mr. Guest</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="R000609">Mr. Rutherford</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the President to oppose any waiver of obligations of members of the World Trade Organization under the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights unless a statute is enacted expressly authorizing such a waiver.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HFE28E0441DB04F798AFBAA691B692EDA" style="OLC"><section id="H99013312A36044B3B6BE0C2C7CEEB32A" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Trade Related Intellectual Property Protection Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>TRIPP Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H55EEB563BC2A44F08A6F06DBE1F5F860"><enum>2.</enum><header>Opposition to waiver of obligations of WTO members under the TRIPS Agreement</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The President shall oppose any waiver of obligations of members of the World Trade Organization under the TRIPS Agreement unless a statute is enacted expressly authorizing such a waiver.</text></section><section id="H8F961C1BEC8740E78F67E244ACE28902"><enum>3.</enum><header>TRIPS Agreement defined</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act, the term <term>TRIPS Agreement</term> means the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights referred to in section 101(d)(15) of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/3511">19 U.S.C. 3511(d)(15)</external-xref>).</text></section></legis-body></bill>
