R. 7706</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240315">March 15, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="N000193">Mr. Nunn of Iowa</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S001223">Mrs. Sykes</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide that funds made available under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for lead service line replacement projects be provided to disadvantaged communities in the form of forgivable loans or grants, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H438A4713812649F9833AE99C2DE03CB0" style="OLC"><section id="H1B5A5FFE1A2F41B8BF05243156B9A2DA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Safe Drinking Water for Disadvantaged Communities Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H64F3EB80953F4B9A900159458316E8EE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Disbursement of funds</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, all funds made available under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/58">Public Law 117–58</external-xref>) for capitalization grants for the Drinking Water State Revolving Funds under section 1452 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300j-12">42 U.S.C. 300j–12</external-xref>) for lead service line replacement projects and associated activities directly connected to the identification, planning, design, and replacement of lead service lines shall be disbursed in the form of forgivable loans or grants to disadvantaged communities (as defined in section 1452(d)(3) of the Safe Drinking Water Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300j-12">42 U.S.C. 300j–12(d)(3)</external-xref>)).</text></section></legis-body></bill>
