R. 7251</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20240206">February 6, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001135">Mrs. Chavez-DeRemer</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="J000295">Mr. Joyce of Pennsylvania</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000230">Mr. Davis of North Carolina</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="C001127">Mrs. Cherfilus-McCormick</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize certain poison control programs.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HADB6920383E04D5FA5DEDF639A87847B" style="OLC"><section id="HFB8F90D38F8646D0BE55EE5E9FF51BA1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Poison Control Centers Reauthorization Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H853AB5647D65433588D5D698E37E9A82"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of poison control programs</header><subsection id="H65512E1A33854163A5219F915C058E93"><enum>(a)</enum><header>National toll-Free number and other communication capabilities</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1271(c) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300d-71">42 U.S.C. 300d–71(c)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>fiscal years 2020 through 2024</quote> and inserting <quote>fiscal years 2024 through 2028</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HD0E73610437A4F91867A68AEDAC4EBF4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Promoting poison control center utilization</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1272(c) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300d-72">42 U.S.C. 300d–72(c)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>fiscal years 2020 through 2024</quote> and inserting <quote>fiscal years 2024 through 2028</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="HF1A1C25DEA0C4BC79E41B39895E6788F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Poison control center grant program</header><text>Section 1273(g) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300d-73">42 U.S.C. 300d–73(g)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>fiscal years 2020 through 2024</quote> and inserting <quote>fiscal years 2024 through 2028</quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
