R. 6506</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20231129">November 29, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="K000376">Mr. Kelly of Pennsylvania</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="T000467">Mr. Thompson of Pennsylvania</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000610">Mr. Reschenthaler</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000602">Ms. Lee of Pennsylvania</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001195">Mr. Mooney</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="D000530">Mr. Deluzio</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the National Trails System Act to direct the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study on the feasibility of designating Washington’s Trail—1753 as a national historic trail, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HBD2EF649311C409DB570085842555E43" style="OLC"><section id="H12053CE41D704938B9E2EE8EEFF5A16E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Washington’s Trail—1753 National Historic Trail Feasibility Study Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H4EC998F6CA8D4B838FDEA67FD2291B07"><enum>2.</enum><header>Washington’s Trail—1753 National Historic Trail Feasibility Study</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5(c) of the National Trails System Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1244">16 U.S.C. 1244(c)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HB7B468B0F2F947D799E6DB39B6B9D32E" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HC36E65B26A6C4FF2B43911C0ECEB65B9"><enum>(50)</enum><header>Washington’s Trail—1753</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Washington’s Trail<short-title>Washington’s Trail—1753 National Historic Trail Feasibility Study Act of 2023</short-title>1753, extending approximately 500 miles from Williamsburg, Virginia, to Fort LeBoeuf (now Waterford), Pennsylvania, following the route taken by George Washington and his party on his diplomatic mission to the French on behalf of Virginia Governor Robert Dinwiddie from October 31, 1753, to January 16, 1754, just prior to the start of the French and Indian War (1754–1763).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
