<section id="HE6CC82FD4926455995827ABE07B049C0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Expression of interest term and fee reimbursement</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 17(q) of the Mineral Leasing Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/30/226">30 U.S.C. 226(q)</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H80D3B552FE784A6B8D99891676415B7E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">Fee for</header-in-text></quote>;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H128E8035AE274F6BB573EF1F889F19F3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>nonrefundable</quote>; and </text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H3ADD37653D0648CABE5814D7E2B94622"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>

<paragraph id="HBDFA90E6A00A46EAB02521A142DF03F6"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Term</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An expression of interest submitted under this section shall remain active for a term of not less than 5 years.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H9AFFB19A2B6A4113A45039869E6DDF61"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Inactive status</header><text>If an expression of interest becomes inactive, the Secretary shall refund the fee for the expression of interest to the person that submitted the expression of interest.</text> </paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></section>
