<section id="H75A34D71940A4B0BA05B1A5FD344D7BF" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Schools Want Accountability for Threats Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote>SWAT Act</quote>.</text></section> <section id="H1489B0A6186649F5AA77118AFFDADBE6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Threats involving fire or explosives</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 844(e) of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H0C35AD51F6294E268786A5652AD4EBFF"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>(e)</quote> and inserting <quote>(e)(1)</quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HC0BF15888DF643AE9BDE88E214762D5B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> 
<quoted-block style="USC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H26D7E22CA72C496CB0E6BD8650ED0672"> 
<paragraph id="HB429676FF1D14C15990B479F89EAA392" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whoever violates paragraph (1) by making a threat against, or maliciously conveying false information with respect to, a public, private, or religious school that provides early childhood, elementary, secondary, postsecondary, or career and technical education, as determined under State law, shall be imprisoned for not more than 20 years or fined under this title, or both.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> <section id="HB0B57247586249E3A67EBC600C9286D1"><enum>3.</enum><header>Threats through the mail or interstate communications</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/18/41">Chapter 41</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HE5EA46327C094CBAAE83F745FD1248F1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in section 875 by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="H567FE06C1E9F452D966923F3DA6D023D" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="HE8AEB850882E43888CE995BF4D429418"><enum>(e)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whoever violates any other provision of this section by making a threat against a public, private, or religious school that provides early childhood, elementary, secondary, postsecondary, or career and technical education, as determined under State law, shall be imprisoned for not more than 20 years or fined under this title, or both.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H295686D952024053A9AD2DDFC210411B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in section 876 by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HA9EDB9185460406D9FAEF3C1BF9278D5" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="HBE2B2EDC9FCB4D6D948590B66D0F3464"><enum>(e)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whoever violates any other provision of this section by making a threat against a public, private, or religious school that provides early childhood, elementary, secondary, postsecondary, or career and technical education, as determined under State law, shall be imprisoned for not more than 20 years or fined under this title, or both.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> 
<section id="HE609208D4F8E455BA7CA11D7C4360145"><enum>4.</enum><header>False information and hoaxes</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1038(a)(1) of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HF70D83C7BF1C4E5B893FDBCE148623F9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B) by striking <quote>and</quote>;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2E00C4DCF7494EDFBA83803AE84942D9"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C) by striking the period and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H2D9CF609F46F433DB542A3964FAE12D3"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subparagraph id="H911E20E3129C4F0DA9ABB7300164E713"><enum>(D)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">if the information indicates that the activity has taken, is taking, or will take place in a public, private, or religious school that provides early childhood, elementary, secondary, postsecondary, or career and technical education, as determined under State law, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section> </legis-body></bill>
