R. 5124</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230801">August 1, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000618">Ms. Porter</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 18, United States Code, to increase the length of the post-employment ban on lobbying by certain former senior executive branch personnel from one year to 2 years.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H6C0D6F7DE2E8485F89F2F8A9334DD8F4" style="OLC"><section id="H304F9C376614489B986FFBC2FC73020F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Restrict Conflicted Lobbying Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HD3E404445B0C43999541ADBCD08456D9" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase in length of post-employment ban on lobbying by certain former senior executive branch personnel</header><subsection id="H5CF0E7B817F541DC82D6AFD110C02E06"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Increase in length of ban</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 207(c) of title 18, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="H4102E57EE1BC43C7874D244D883E7E4C"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="USC">One-year</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="USC">Two-year</header-in-text></quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HB04E6D546C6742C5B04935E0EA85255F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>within 1 year after the termination</quote> and inserting <quote>within 2 years after the termination</quote>. </text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H75963F81B4424994A0473DFE7E80CF28"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall apply with respect to any individual who, on or after the date of the enactment of this Act, leaves a position to which subsection (c) of section 207 of title 18, United States Code, applies.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
