1.

Short title

This Act may be cited as the American Meat Industry Protection Act of 2023.

2.

No Federal funds supporting lab-grown meat

(a)

In general

No Federal funds may be used to support, directly or indirectly, the production, advancement, or enhancement of lab-grown meat, including through—(1)conducting or supporting research on lab-grown meat;(2)supporting meatpacking plants, organizations, or groups relating to lab-grown meat; and(3)excluding from the receipt of any assistance or other benefit under a program administered by the Secretary of Agriculture any farm, ranch, producer, or other entity that produces lab-grown meat.(b)

Lab-Grown meat defined

In this section, the term lab-grown meat means meat sourced from cells of animals and artificially produced in a laboratory.
