<section id="H7AA6879802FC4F52A151DC24C834B27E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Tribal Healthcare Careers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HE17B4058425A4B139BDDFAEA5D7D0BCD"><enum>2.</enum><header>Set-aside of funds for Indian populations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2008(c)(1) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1397g">42 U.S.C. 1397g(c)(1)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote>15 percent of which for each fiscal year shall be reserved for grants to Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Tribal Colleges and Universities</quote> before the period.</text></section>
<section id="HA98CF827083F47A9B2F656185F1CF1CA"><enum>3.</enum><header>Guarantee of grants for Indian populations</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2008(a)(2)(C) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1397">42 U.S.C. 1397(a)(2)(C)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB69217987F9047CB87216CD02F87F544" style="OLC"> <subparagraph id="HEB77ACDE400D464A91DCC2CFC4ED0622"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Guarantee of grants for Indian populations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall award at least 10 grants under this subsection to an eligible entity that is an Indian tribe, a tribal organization, or a Tribal College or University, to the extent there are a sufficient number of applications submitted by such an eligible entity that meet the requirements of subparagraph (B).</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
<section id="HC87EC9ED99FF4465B7CA84F32D5C74DB"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall take effect on October 1, 2023.</text></section> </legis-body></bill>
