<section id="HA5E0B34FD81A4BCA9D3DEB2E7FB8D16E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Passport Sanity Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section> <section id="H9FE0A3DD077C49E2943CFD09D992AF2F"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibition regarding certain gender designation on passports, passport cards, and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad issued by Department of State</header> <subsection id="HA0E5C8D006C04A07B999658E5BF1DEB1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of State shall—</text>
<paragraph id="HFFA8B210C9D94F7FBCF539B927F4111B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>ensure each application for a covered document includes only the gender designations male and female; and </text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H9F4E69850C5D439483512DD4820DB22C"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">prohibit the issuing of a covered document that includes the unspecified (X) gender designation.</text></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="HD44C4CB85D964C67906817C9FC0B5EBB"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Covered document defined</header><text>In this section, the term <quote>covered document</quote> means a passport, passport card, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State. </text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
