<section id="H34427AF9FCBD4694AC819F639249CD22" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>CDC Leadership Accountability Act of 2023</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H169CCA8DC6154D49A9C51DD236A01450" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Accelerating applicability of requirement that CDC Director be confirmed by Senate</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Subsection (b) of section 2101 of division FF of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/117/328">Public Law 117–328</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text>

<subsection id="H4E52238CDE944CDBA918170E903588C4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Applicability</header> 
<paragraph id="HCAC892444E734747A3E26FB76B0D2842"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The first sentence of section 305(a) of the Public Health Service Act, as added by subsection (a), applies with respect to any Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention appointed on or after June 1, 2023.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H3C686446501548CD919DF877E32E50BE"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Special rule</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Any individual appointed during the period beginning on June 1, 2023, and ending on the date of enactment of this Act to serve as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is deemed to be serving in an acting capacity until the requirements of the first sentence of section 305(a) of the Public Health Service Act, as added by subsection (a), are met.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section>
