<official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Transportation to conduct a study on the costs and benefits of commuter rail passenger transportation involving transfers, and for other purposes.</official-title>

<section id="H9D7C7D83DEAC40309B17DFAA02399E66" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>One Seat Ride Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HE38CDA666D0349E385942DF47EADB11D" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Study on commuter service</header> <subsection id="H936ABD4850BE4597BE8966FC39A435F2"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Transportation, in consultation with the Administrators of the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration, shall conduct a study analyzing the costs and benefits of providing commuter rail passenger transportation that does not involve a transfer compared with the costs and benefits of providing commuter rail passenger transportation involving a transfer.</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H4D34C6ECC72E42EEA660F7101D3A7AB3"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirements</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—</text> <paragraph id="HDEAA366B520843068D1C29D826ADC082"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">consider economic, logistical, and quality of life factors in analyzing the costs and benefits of the different types of commuter rail passenger transportation identified in such subsection; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="HB8B02389E1A44017B553B7AE38F05993"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">include in such study an analysis of such costs and benefits with respect to commuter rail passenger transportation on the New Jersey Transit Raritan Valley line during peak hours.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H4E55A3F11ED940CBBE4FBF7236E6AC74"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 9 months after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate a report on the study conducted under subsection (a). </text></subsection>
<subsection id="H794A5DE3DB174D21A6C966FBC1B0F153"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In this section, the term <quote>commuter rail passenger transportation</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 24102 of title 49, United States Code. </text></subsection></section> </legis-body> </bill>
