R. 10458</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20241217">December 17, 2024</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001210">Mr. Murphy</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To exempt diesel-fueled emergency vehicles from certain air pollution requirements, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H389A906ADAC74B5BAE801D6D0983440D" style="OLC"><section id="HE4C78B1F32CF4196989ED6C261BCC3AB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Emergency Vehicles Responsiveness Act of 2024</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFA3FD43C50E64B56A69DF734BC69679D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exempting diesel-fueled emergency vehicles from certain air pollution requirements</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 203 of the Clean Air Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/7522">42 U.S.C. 7522</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HB6561DFFDF1B435A82E8249B5D965071" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="H42C488B1FC5B412A958291BC177B89F8"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Exemption for diesel-Fueled emergency vehicles</header><paragraph id="HBAB127A04E2044C59C3CC2EF3ECEFF30"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Exemption</header><text>Any diesel-fueled emergency vehicle or diesel-fueled emergency vehicle engine is deemed to be exempt from subsection (a)(1).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD7FE3585214849948DAC62D71EED1420"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Definition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this subsection, the term <quote>emergency vehicle</quote> means a vehicle designed to be used under emergency conditions—</text><subparagraph id="H3CCCC7D9E2694D4096FDEEFEB600EAE4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>to transport personnel and equipment; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HBD77F0F3BAD74BACB888C0FC11153686"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to support the suppression of fires and mitigation of other hazardous situations.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
