RES. 87</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20230905">September 5, 2023</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="J000307">Mr. James</sponsor> submitted the following joint resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>JOINT RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to establish an upper limit on the age of eligibility for service as President, Vice President, or Member of Congress.</official-title></form><resolution-body style="constitutional-amendment" id="HE9681433E2BB42C097243209001D4E0C"><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H89B83815EDEC41AE85FBD821243C5777"><text>That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification: </text><quoted-block style="traditional" id="HE7AB4234905549FD89EDD585BB15F216" display-inline="no-display-inline"><constitution-article id="H1234"><enum> —</enum><section id="HD76C3AB93B6A430FA52A13499E04D6D5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No person may be elected to a term as President, Vice President, Senator, or Representatives in Congress if at any time during the term the person will be 75 years of age or older.</text></section><section id="H5145BF62AADB462385B5E358327C77B5" section-type="section-one"><enum>2.</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No term or other period beginning before the date of the ratification of this article shall be taken into account in determining eligibility for service, election, or appointment under this article.</text></section></constitution-article><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></resolution-body></resolution>
