which was considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Honoring the life and legacy of the late Senator Robert <quote>Bob</quote> Charles Krueger.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas Robert <quote>Bob</quote> Charles Krueger (referred to in this preamble as <quote>Bob Krueger</quote>) was born on September 19, 1935, to Arlon and Faye Krueger in New Braunfels, Texas;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger earned a bachelor’s degree from the Southern Methodist University, a master’s degree from Duke University, and a doctorate in philosophy in English literature from Oxford University;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger subsequently returned home to run the family business, the Comal Hosiery Mills;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger began his career in public service in 1975, representing the 21st Congressional District of Texas in the House of Representatives until 1979;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in 1979, Bob Krueger was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to serve as Ambassador-at-Large and Coordinate for Mexican Affairs at the Department of State until 1981;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger was elected to statewide office in 1991 and served as Railroad Commissioner of Texas until 1993;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in January 1993, Bob Krueger was appointed to the United States Senate, where he served until June 1993;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, from 1994 to 1995, former Senator Krueger served as Ambassador to Burundi;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, while serving as Ambassador to Burundi, Bob Krueger witnessed the human rights abuses that occurred during the civil war in Rwanda and advocated for those human rights to be upheld;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, from 1996 to 1999, Bob Krueger served as Ambassador to Botswana;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in 2000, after years of distinguished public service, Bob Krueger returned to Oxford as a research fellow;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger also taught at Rice University, the University of Texas at Austin, Texas Tech University, and Texas State University;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Bob Krueger was a kind person who was generous with his time to his students, friends, and family; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on April 30, 2022, at the age of 86, Bob Krueger died, leaving behind—</text><paragraph id="idA76A76A38F32408AACE275FF51697691"><enum>(1)</enum><text>his wife, Kathleen Tobin;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id6C17E25E2F1E439A862EBF76A88F7AE5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>his children, Mariana, Sarah, and Christian; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id9AF2A0C0F89942178B065C8D30D09FA2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>his grandson, Brooks: Now, therefore, be it</text></paragraph></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That—</text><paragraph id="idFA6D0402AD244191B2FFC0026171DEC6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the Senate—</text><subparagraph id="idF5C664AC61D24B01BD1C3424484B1387"><enum>(A)</enum><text>honors the life and legacy of the late Robert <quote>Bob</quote> Charles Krueger (referred to in this resolution as <quote>Bob Krueger</quote>) for his—</text><clause id="idc2fe1713dfad4b76b95a737dc585de33"><enum>(i)</enum><text>accomplishments as—</text><subclause id="id05DC5F2D71854A7A8ED1221DA93F6ADF"><enum>(I)</enum><text>a patriot; and</text></subclause><subclause id="idE2F7E67D57604804BE731FD5F816CF67"><enum>(II)</enum><text>an example for future generations of leaders; and</text></subclause></clause><clause id="id66ed3036847a4c5fbc4fddd8cd472b63"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>dedication to Texas as a Senator, a member of the House of Representatives, an Ambassador, and a public servant; and</text></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id01b197cc7e88484a90da29a2abf85d28"><enum>(B)</enum><text>respectfully requests that the Secretary of the Senate—</text><clause id="ida82782ab06c04a46bf1c49f381ae3e86"><enum>(i)</enum><text>communicate this resolution to the House of Representatives; and</text></clause><clause id="ide2029a326502421e8a5135899261f3d8"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to the family of Bob Krueger; and</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id41a2b27feb5143e4912a8ee767b583a6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>when the Senate adjourns today, it stand adjourned as a further mark of respect to the memory of Bob Krueger. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
