RES. 659</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220526">May 26, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S350">Mr. Rubio</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Honoring the memory of Aden Spencer Perry.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas Aden Spencer Perry was born on December 11, 2004;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden was a junior at Western High School in Davie, Florida, where he excelled academically;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award for Mathematics and Science and achievement awards in Advanced Placement Calculus AB, Advanced Placement English Literature, and Advanced Placement Capstone Research and was accepted into the National Honor Society;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden was set to graduate at the top of his class;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on April 19, 2022, while walking with his mother in Sunrise, Florida, Aden witnessed a car crash into a lake and, without concern for his own safety, jumped into the water to assist the driver;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden exhibited honor in this selfless act for a stranger;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the lives of both Aden and the driver of the vehicle were tragically cut short;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden brought joy to all who knew him;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Aden was a skilled pianist and aspired to become a neurosurgeon;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, in recognition of Aden’s selfless and heroic act, on May 10, 2022, Mayor Michael Udine posthumously awarded Aden with the Broward County Medal of Valor; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas May 10 will now be Aden Perry Day in Broward County: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="id402eee92b886433cad71bfc4d92fcc72"><enum>(1)</enum><text>honors the life and memory of Aden Spencer Perry; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id3f6580b4784b43b0ba1415f180b22c93"><enum>(2)</enum><text>offers heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, and friends of Aden Perry, and recognizes that Aden’s spirit lives on through them and selfless acts towards strangers in need.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
