RES. 628</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220510">May 10, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S247">Mr. Wyden</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S349">Mr. Portman</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S370">Mr. Booker</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S359">Mr. Heinrich</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S229">Mrs. Murray</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S300">Mr. Burr</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S361">Ms. Hirono</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Designating May 21, 2022, as <quote>Kids to Parks Day</quote>.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas the 12th annual Kids to Parks Day will be celebrated on May 21, 2022;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the goals of Kids to Parks Day are—</text><paragraph id="idf77f5abebc9b42a88afc7e81d913a1be"><enum>(1)</enum><text>to promote healthy outdoor recreation and responsible environmental stewardship;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id4023476a66db47beb1b87141733cab79"><enum>(2)</enum><text>to empower young people; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id789afd4e24124157aab2a4d8974f6e1a"><enum>(3)</enum><text>to encourage families to get outdoors and visit the parks and public land of the United States;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on Kids to Parks Day, individuals from rural, suburban, and urban areas of the United States can be reintroduced to the splendid national, State, and neighborhood parks located in their communities;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas communities across the United States offer a variety of natural resources and public land, often with free access, to individuals seeking outdoor recreation;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the people of the United States, young and old, should be encouraged to lead more healthy and active lifestyles;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Kids to Parks Day is an opportunity for families to take a break from their busy lives and enjoy a day of active, wholesome fun; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Kids to Parks Day will—</text><paragraph id="id10cd63b05ad2433bb0a83d337ab1d63b"><enum>(1)</enum><text>broaden an appreciation for nature and the outdoors in young people;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="iddf0476ff6c0e4ef48e033fd6f4ccf9d5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>foster a safe setting for independent play and healthy adventure in neighborhood parks; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ida159ecdf66914033878b52c625efc486"><enum>(3)</enum><text>facilitate self-reliance while strengthening communities: Now, therefore, be it </text></paragraph></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="idafa648a1a656446a821e2c8b3b004d39"><enum>(1)</enum><text>designates May 21, 2022, as <quote>Kids to Parks Day</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id323bbbfe89ae4b90820272e5448dc5ba"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the importance of outdoor recreation and the preservation of open spaces for the health and education of the young people of the United States; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id60dbdf8376c1491b8622d58cd45835dc"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages the people of the United States to observe Kids to Parks Day with safe family trips to parks. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
