RES. 488</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20220112" legis-day="20220110">January 12 (legislative day, January 10), 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S354">Ms. Baldwin</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S345">Mr. Johnson</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Congratulating the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds on winning the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas, on November 20, 2021, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds won the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship and finished the season with an impressive record of 35 wins and 3 losses;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s volleyball team defeated the Calvin University Knights in 3 sets to win the program’s first ever national championship;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Ava Aldag, Makenzie Bachmann, Kendra Baierl, Arianna Barrett, Sophia Brown, Sheridan Dettmann, Hannah Flottmeyer, Sarah Kuchcik, Emma Macken, Libby Macken, Charlie Nelson, Clara Olson, Kelly Page, Olivia Rooney, Maren Saunders, Taylor Scalia, Erika Stensland, Victoria Van Dan, Abby Volk, and Jordan Witzel worked hard, showed great dedication, and represented the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with dignity;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the coaching and support staff of the Blugolds, Kim Wudi, Alex Berger, Jodi Risen, Katrina Raskie, Dylan Graber, Robin Baker, Nick Hoven, Rachel Delanois, and Erin Sparks, guided the team throughout the season;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Assistant Coach Jodi Risen was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Assistant Coach of the Year;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s volleyball team—</text><paragraph id="id0b8e3a040a704aab838a49b40413dc84"><enum>(1)</enum><text>also captured the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ide06c1917626a44f5b91113813cd91663"><enum>(2)</enum><text>featured 3 players who earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American honors at the end of the season, specifically—</text><subparagraph id="idA93C9ADD6FA643C6BED79441ED7B9DBB" commented="no"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Kendra Baierl;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id51848DC8AA674EC5986C7F77AD948D29" commented="no"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Charlie Nelson; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph commented="no" id="id6C6B74D37D82465482EBFD9A5B04C0BA"><enum>(C)</enum><text>Arianna Barrett;</text></subparagraph></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the players and staff of the Blugold women's volleyball team persevered through the challenges presented by the COVID–19 pandemic; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the Blugold women’s volleyball team has brought great pride and honor to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and its alumni, loyal fans, and the State of Wisconsin: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="idd1424ead1ff9469db76146b730ff73ad"><enum>(1)</enum><text>congratulates the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds on winning the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id4dc56dbd0be74d9aac234d6539e88946"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the achievements of the players, coaches, and staff who contributed to this championship season; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idf0b1f354823b4294aa7015c608aabf1b" commented="no"><enum>(3)</enum><text>respectfully requests that the Secretary of the Senate prepare an official copy of this resolution for presentation to—</text><subparagraph id="id32b9a5ce6109434086f22b3d1e2a1546" commented="no"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, James C. Schmidt;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id8285fff5e4eb4ad3b6e713f893a4b368" commented="no"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Athletic Director of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Dan Schumacher; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idf8c847105c7c43abaf093336e8bc657f" commented="no"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the Head Coach of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's volleyball team, Kim Wudi.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
