RES. 433</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20211028">October 28, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S366">Ms. Warren</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S374">Mr. Cotton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S345">Mr. Johnson</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S402">Ms. Rosen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S380">Mr. Peters</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Expressing support for the designation of October 28, 2021, as <quote>Honoring the Nation’s First Responders Day</quote>.</official-title></form><preamble commented="no"><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas first responders include professional and volunteer fire, police, emergency medical technician, and paramedic workers in the United States;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, according to a 2017 compilation of data on the Emergency Services Sector in the United States by the Department of Homeland Security, <quote>The first responder community comprises an estimated 4.6 million career and volunteer professionals within five primary disciplines: Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue Services, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, and Public Works.</quote>;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas first responders deserve to be recognized for their commitment to safety, defense, and honor; and</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas October 28, 2021, would be an appropriate day to establish as <quote>Honoring the Nation’s First Responders Day</quote>: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" display-resolving-clause="yes-display-resolving-clause" id="H8499ECC12F5D4696B410AD9094B2AEA4"><section commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H25C82DF9DF46474AAD8FC3F804CFE1A9"><enum/><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the Senate—</text><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB67850E89764459ABCE2600A3354BB01"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">supports the designation of October 28, 2021, as <quote>Honoring the Nation’s First Responders Day</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H65A29AC30A1348F388D7A923F3EFFDF8"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">honors and recognizes the contributions of first responders; and</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H8E0F3C6E63534F7FB6BDBB6D0986A541"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">encourages the people of the United States to observe Honoring the Nation’s First Responders Day with appropriate ceremonies and activities that promote awareness of the contributions of first responders in the United States.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
