which was considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Congratulating the University of Florida Gators for winning the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men’s Tennis Championship.</official-title></form><preamble commented="no"><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas, on May 22, 2021, the University of Florida Gators Men’s Tennis Team (referred to in this preamble as the <quote>Gators</quote>) won the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association (referred to in this preamble as the <quote>NCAA</quote>) Division I Men’s Tennis Championship;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship is the first NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship the Gators have won;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the Gators defeated Baylor University’s Men’s Tennis Team in the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas this marks the 42nd national title for the University of Florida Gators Athletics programs;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas men’s tennis is the 15th sport in which the University of Florida has won a national title;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the University of Florida is 1 of 2 programs in the Nation to win at least 1 national championship in every fully contested season since the 2008–2009 season;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the championship victory clinching match was won by Ben Shelton, son of Gators Head Coach Bryan Shelton;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas Gators player Blaise Bicknell—</text><paragraph id="id7255f6154aed4ccca83349de32cab169" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">holds a perfect record in dual matches in his career; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id2634c3eb75014678b71ee97ae2bd46a3" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is the fourth player in Gators history to go undefeated in dual matches;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas Gators Head Coach Bryan Shelton—</text><paragraph id="id3275b2b4a31245f2b162450bb14f4e2d" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">is the fifth coach across all NCAA sports to coach a men’s and women’s national championship winning team; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1efcecaa15ee4a63a26d7770b3e3d9c5" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the first coach in NCAA history to lead a men's program and women's program to a NCAA Division I Tennis Championship; and</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas the following entire Gator roster and coaching staff contributed to the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship victory: Associate Head Coach Tanner Stump, Volunteer Assistant Coach Scott Perelman, and student athletes Andy Andrade, Brian Berdusco, Blaise Bicknell, Josh Goodger, Will Grant, Lukas Greif, Johannes Ingildsen, Sam Riffice, Ben Shelton, and Duarte Vale: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="OLC" display-resolving-clause="yes-display-resolving-clause"><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">That the Senate— </text><paragraph id="id3edabb9f6c4f453d95f6c681117351e5" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">congratulates the University of Florida Gators Men’s Tennis Team and the students, alumni, faculty, staff, and trustees of the University of Florida, for winning the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men’s Tennis Championship; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1e7b416e87cd4b589bb4bb4fc21a241c" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">respectfully directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit an enrolled copy of this resolution to—</text><subparagraph id="id69a7eb63d017402ebdcd4bf5d753be17" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the President of the University of Florida, Kent Fuchs;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id9a0a917e7d0749d5ac718b22e39ca92c" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Athletic Director of the University of Florida, Scott Stricklin; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="ida53ddee454bd44cfa749be490dd82dc3" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Head Coach of the University of Florida Gators Men’s Tennis Team, Bryan Shelton. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
