RES. 228</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210520">May 20, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S247">Mr. Wyden</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S349">Mr. Portman</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S370">Mr. Booker</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S359">Mr. Heinrich</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S361">Ms. Hirono</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S300">Mr. Burr</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Designating May 15, 2021, as <quote>Kids to Parks Day</quote>.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas the 11th annual Kids to Parks Day will be celebrated on May 15, 2021;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the goals of Kids to Parks Day are to—</text><paragraph id="idfb52096f14d845808e6b77fbcfc612fd"><enum>(1)</enum><text>promote healthy outdoor recreation and responsible environmental stewardship;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id0078b73d367543c688a1fc26d496730c"><enum>(2)</enum><text>empower young people; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1026cf2b0718472db327910fc534d5c2"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourage families to get outdoors and visit the parks and public land of the United States;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas, on Kids to Parks Day, individuals from rural, suburban, and urban areas of the United States can be reintroduced to the splendid National, State, and neighborhood parks located in their communities;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas communities across the United States offer a variety of natural resources and public land, often with free access, to individuals seeking outdoor recreation;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the people of the United States, young and old, should be encouraged to lead more healthy and active lifestyles;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Kids to Parks Day is an opportunity for families to take a break from their busy lives and enjoy a day of active, wholesome fun; and</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Kids to Parks Day will—</text><paragraph id="idb86594e276e940109646f3b94b23c87e"><enum>(1)</enum><text>broaden an appreciation for nature and the outdoors in young people;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idb980ecb8e8e146a9a2b2387b898fb1a4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>foster a safe setting for independent play and healthy adventure in neighborhood parks; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id03fca25a447c4b75b0364a90c232bf4b"><enum>(3)</enum><text>facilitate self-reliance while strengthening communities: Now, therefore, be it </text></paragraph></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="idb1c662d2c49b45c68037d7da75f307ac"><enum>(1)</enum><text>designates May 15, 2021, as <quote>Kids to Parks Day</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id39b507e03d8d478a8d5a5270748acf9f"><enum>(2)</enum><text>recognizes the importance of outdoor recreation and the preservation of open spaces for the health and education of the young people of the United States; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id2992529cd5e24f06b2dd32a1c43753de"><enum>(3)</enum><text>encourages the people of the United States to observe Kids to Parks Day with safe family trips to parks. </text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
