<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 849</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210318">March 18, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S287">Mr. Cornyn</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S363">Mr. King</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SLIN00">Select Committee on Intelligence</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency to conduct a study to identify supply chains critical to national security, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id78D1086F597445F88EC29F0B700CAC6F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Supply Chain Vulnerability Assessment Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id5486119D0680427E8FBF0AD51B52539B" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Study on supply chains critical to national security</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency shall jointly—</text><paragraph id="idC1ED98CF31614903AA866728150DA6E2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>complete a study—</text><subparagraph id="id1661C83B62614B9BAE1E153F00A2429E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>to identify—</text><clause id="id50F108D5C081470A8D45D53DF33C77C9"><enum>(i)</enum><text>supply chains that are critical to the national security, economic security, or public health or safety of the United States; and</text></clause><clause id="id5D04EFC2D0224B9E8FEA251ABA556E99"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>important vulnerabilities in such supply chains; and</text></clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id9B9E78560FDE4200AD8BF829F05FF1B9"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to develop recommendations for legislative or administrative action to secure the supply chains identified under subparagraph (A)(i); and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id88D6FB2C2BC24C8F97350D41AEF0B655"><enum>(2)</enum><text>submit to the congressional intelligence committees (as that term is defined in section 3 of the National Security Act of 1947 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/3003">50 U.S.C. 3003</external-xref>)) the findings of the directors with respect to the study conducted under paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
