<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 5087</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20221115">November 15, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S288">Ms. Murkowski</sponsor> (for herself and <cosponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SLIA00">Committee on Indian Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Not Invisible Act of 2019 to extend, and provide additional support for, the activities of the Department of the Interior and the Department of Justice Joint Commission on Reducing Violent Crime Against Indians, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id8fc70b0429a24a4db15e1301a45cd16c" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Extension of, and additional support for the activities of, the Department of the Interior and the Department of Justice Joint Commission on Reducing Violent Crime Against Indians</header><subsection id="id0bcf735f06f2457485094177289e5259"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Extension of Commission and activities of the Commission</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 4 of the Not Invisible Act of 2019 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/166">Public Law 116–166</external-xref>; 134 Stat. 767) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id4b478e9124f54562865c637d1d3aa99d"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (c)(2)(B), by striking <quote>18 months after the enactment</quote> and inserting <quote>36 months after the date of enactment</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id98fd33245ef3452f98443d1c743aefe5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (e), by striking <quote>2 years</quote> and inserting <quote>42 months</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="ide0d26dfb88c745ebadec2941dc9ba83c"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Additional support for activities of Commission</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 4(b) of the Not Invisible Act of 2019 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/166">Public Law 116–166</external-xref>; 134 Stat. 767) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id1955EEEA98DE4622B9C174E7FB8E9E74"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in the subsection heading, by inserting <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">; Operation</header-in-text></quote> after <quote><header-in-text style="OLC" level="subsection">Membership</header-in-text></quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id96B579750CC24A308FE33C06B52FCE50"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id6e6a0cd6deee41d9aa6ef8309bb1260b"><paragraph id="id4ac10b20e5004c79a398dc5dd26a7179"><enum>(7)</enum><header>Funding</header><text>The Secretary of the Interior and the Attorney General shall contribute the funds necessary for the operation of the Commission.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id94582707babc4a0590c10589e4a7bf95"><enum>(8)</enum><header>Gifts</header><text>The Commission may accept and use gifts or donations of services or property from Indian tribes or Tribal entities, academic institutions, or other not-for-profit organizations as it considers necessary to carry out the duties of the Commission described in subsection (c).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
