<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4925</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220922">September 22, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S396">Mrs. Blackburn</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S374">Mr. Cotton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S397">Mr. Braun</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S344">Mr. Hoeven</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S395">Mrs. Hyde-Smith</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAS00">Committee on Armed Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To preserve the readiness of the Armed Forces by limiting separations based on COVID–19 vaccination status and continuing pay and benefits for members while religious and health accommodations are pending.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Preserving the Readiness of our Armed Forces Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id6F0888ECB7684168A775FF33C53AEA74"><enum>2.</enum><header>Access to pay and benefits for members of National Guard and reserve components while requests for religious and health accommodations are pending</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">A member of the National Guard or another reserve component of the Armed Forces shall maintain access to pay and benefits while a request of the member for a religious or health accommodation is pending. </text></section><section id="id4EB6E652B1CF44969000D11D9EEB510C"><enum>3.</enum><header>Limitation on involuntary separation of members of Armed Forces based on COVID–19 vaccination status</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">A member of an active or reserve component of the Armed Forces may not be involuntarily separated from the Armed Forces based solely on the vaccination status of the member with respect to COVID–19 until the Armed Forces have achieved the end strengths authorized under the most recent Act authorizing appropriations for military activities of the Department of Defense.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
