<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4852</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220914">September 14, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S324">Mrs. Shaheen</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSSB00">Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To permanently authorize the SBIR and STTR programs.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idDF72E844CD6D456386C1648EC1FA4974" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Permanency of SBIR and STTR programs</header><subsection id="idf87b4c79c8b84fd88eee6c04b1051185"><enum>(a)</enum><header>SBIR</header><text>Section 9(m) of the Small Business Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/638">15 U.S.C. 638(m)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id27a91549448a468a8fcc45d33f853e06"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the subsection heading, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">Termination</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">SBIR program authorization</header-in-text></quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="ide97842ed4c55473eb38a2918ebe8129a"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>terminate on September 30, 2022</quote> and inserting <quote>be in effect for each fiscal year</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id091378D6FCE84D4D96ED321B8B8C2D95"><enum>(b)</enum><header>STTR</header><text>Section 9(n)(1)(A) of the Small Business Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/638">15 U.S.C. 638(n)(1)(A)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>through fiscal year 2022</quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
