<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4790</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220906">September 6, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S389">Mr. Kennedy</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To increase funding for the Patient Navigator Research Program of the National Cancer Institute.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Patient Navigator Enhancement Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idDD526ACB6DDA4BB299D012BCFAF52989"><enum>2.</enum><header>Funding for the Patient Navigator Research Program of the National Cancer Institute</header><subsection id="id628F93D011024140BB440CA74CC3A710"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall use amounts allocated under subsection (b) for purposes of carrying out the Patient Navigator Research Program of the National Cancer Institute.</text></subsection><subsection id="id9C8CEA8DB9A64BD4BC15127627295D1E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Allocation of amounts</header><text>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, out of any unobligated amounts returned by or recouped from recipients of past distributions from the Provider Relief Fund, the Secretary shall allocate such amounts as the Secretary determines appropriate for purposes of carrying out subsection (a). </text></subsection><subsection id="idc0fc89e6ae794827b08bd2a357e19cca"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Provider relief fund</header><text>In this section, the term <term>Provider Relief Fund</term> means the funding appropriated to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally, for necessary expenses to reimburse, through grants or other mechanisms, eligible health care providers for health care related expenses or lost revenue attributable to coronavirus for which appropriations are made under—</text><paragraph id="id074AE3F36A8241BCA1CE714D61A188C4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the third paragraph under the heading <quote>Department of Health and Human Services—Office of the Secretary—Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund</quote> in division B of the CARES Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/136">Public Law 116–136</external-xref>);</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idE5008C59FB7E4C9E99AB2FEC83698DD2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the first paragraph under the heading <quote>Department of Health and Human Services—Office of the Secretary—Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund</quote> in division B of the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/139">Public Law 116–139</external-xref>); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idA4A6017B9A2240E8A5D205E3872F92EC"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the fourth paragraph under the heading <quote>Department of Health and Human Services—Office of the Secretary—Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund</quote> in title III of division H of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/260">Public Law 116–260</external-xref>). </text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
