<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4780</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220804">August 4, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S355">Mr. Cruz</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the definition of marine highway transportation to include the carriage by a documented vessel of cargo that is bulk, liquid, or loose cargo loaded in tanks, holds, hoppers, or on deck.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Improving Marine Highway Transportation Act of 2022 </short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id97CE68FF9E6F42A28D5F536583EC2EF6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Marine highway transportation definition amendment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 55605(1) of title 46, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="id0B6A210248684849A0BF53AD6B6A1580"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C), by striking <quote>or</quote> after the semicolon;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id3BF3DDEF903D46F9924BACA9BB20FCFD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by redesignating subparagraph (D) as subparagraph (E); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7C1ABD1406004D5198F7455B6C1E3961"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by inserting after subparagraph (C) the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id5F6BB7BA8BF24E5FA7F36BA19304A5AA"><subparagraph id="idDD29CDDC3443472D964C105943DBBCE3"><enum>(D)</enum><text>bulk, liquid, or loose cargo loaded in tanks, holds, hoppers, or on deck; or</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
