<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4755</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220803">August 3, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S303">Mr. Thune</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 to ensure that ranchers who have grazing agreements on national grasslands are treated the same as permittees on other Federal land.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id8B832E5FBCFA464AA2A617841DA67957" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Eligibility of national grasslands for grazing leases and permits</header><subsection id="idCDF60E4EFC86481EAA2524D8814BA3EA"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 402(a) of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1752">43 U.S.C. 1752(a)</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>lands within National Forests</quote> and inserting <quote>National Forest System (as defined in section 11(a) of the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act of 1974 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/16/1609">16 U.S.C. 1609(a)</external-xref>)) land</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="id358C48FDD6BE4DF7BDE02EAAD92EB71D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effect</header><text>Nothing in the amendment made by subsection (a) modifies or affects—</text><paragraph id="idC3A9B2EAFE594E1C887DFD2182551C83"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the applicability to national grasslands of any provision of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1701">43 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.</external-xref>) other than section 402 of that Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1752">43 U.S.C. 1752</external-xref>);</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id4B5DFB00C1454E2A84F97F548A91014A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>title III of the Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/1010">7 U.S.C. 1010 et seq.</external-xref>); or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id996E725F71F548DDB479026115A51B6E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>section 11 of the Public Rangelands Improvement Act of 1978 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/1907">43 U.S.C. 1907</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
