which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFR00">Committee on Foreign Relations</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of Defense to seek to engage with the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Jordan for the purpose of expanding cooperation of military cybersecurity activities, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idFAEDD3EC0A3C4E58BD581F2D1ADB2FF2" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Military cybersecurity cooperation with Kingdom of Jordan</header><subsection id="ideca241b4f0f74814ae4935fa645964d1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall, acting through the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, in coordination with the Commander of United States Cyber Command, the Commander of United States Central Command, and the Secretary of State, seek to engage their counterparts within the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Jordan for the purpose of expanding cooperation of military cybersecurity activities.</text></subsection><subsection id="id279ce43be516445497fde2336bb95e9a"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Cooperation efforts</header><text>The efforts to expand cooperation required by subsection (a) may include the following efforts between the Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Jordan:</text><paragraph id="id102e3a399e89408cb2b3d335a27e6137"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Bilateral cybersecurity training activities and exercises.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id1c90d0e5e48f4bf5a49f22c9b5f7dc7c"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Efforts to—</text><subparagraph id="id10adb9db566c4ed6bbc2532ca097db54"><enum>(A)</enum><text>actively defend military networks, infrastructure, and systems;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id241b83ccbe1144f88b96f258affe9e61"><enum>(B)</enum><text>eradicate malicious cyber activity that has compromised those networks, infrastructure, and systems; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id34ed7809d591453e87d24067dd294d0c"><enum>(C)</enum><text>leverage United States commercial and military cybersecurity technology and services to harden and defend those networks, infrastructure, and systems.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="idf005e3523b9043459663fb20df7c4fcb"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Establishment of a regional cybersecurity center.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id91f4f77b851347cca269a2e20bfe0899"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Briefings</header><paragraph id="id487cdeacdc4141a7ba752485c02e1dc8"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall, in coordination with the Secretary of State, provide to the appropriate committees of Congress a briefing on the implementation of this section.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id06c19cdf5f8e4e26abb46e4a038ac1ff"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Contents</header><text>The briefing required by paragraph (1) shall include the following:</text><subparagraph id="idd59d9f8852e946c6af98d50e45396796"><enum>(A)</enum><text>An overview of efforts undertaken pursuant to this section.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id1f19bdf8d5a349feb6e42dc798ffd512"><enum>(B)</enum><text>A description of the feasibility and advisability of expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Jordan on military cybersecurity.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idd1b8d33d600d49f39f25ed6f6176bbf8"><enum>(C)</enum><text>Identification of any challenges and resources that need to be addressed so as to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Jordan on military cybersecurity.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id58834afe4e414cf299d6b98782dcfe13"><enum>(D)</enum><text>Any other matter the Secretary considers relevant.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id99C8FB1A97BE4D4295E594664AABA338"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Appropriate committees of Congress defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>appropriate committees of Congress</term> means—</text><subparagraph id="id088B4FDE96094F02A3955D5A97C6C093"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="idFE043EC3E5414577B35A06D13A68D999"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
