<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4517</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220713">July 13, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S414">Mr. Ossoff</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S399">Mr. Hawley</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSGA00">Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To expand the eligible uses of firefighter assistance grant funds, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fire Station Improvement Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idD8CE9AAE6F5F4B4C91B967FC27C63EAC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Use of firefighter assistance grant funds</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 33(c)(3)(J) of the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2229">15 U.S.C. 2229(c)(3)(J)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB1053A6855FD4CC6B40E83D3CC59EBC7"><subparagraph id="id068128E6AD1B4034A9AEA1E4DBC7ADC1"><enum>(J)</enum><text>To repair, modify, or improve fire stations, fire training facilities, and other similar facilities—</text><clause id="id27DCBA8A8C174D78B32D103F20D38C8E"><enum>(i)</enum><text>to improve the functionality of those facilities; or </text></clause><clause id="id423D30B632624C5095348C9357988E04"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>to protect the health and safety of firefighting personnel.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
