<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4494</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220623">June 23, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S221">Mrs. Feinstein</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S413">Mr. Padilla</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S402">Ms. Rosen</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to modify the requirements for an eligible project under the competitive grant program for large-scale water recycling and reuse projects, to provide for an additional authorization of appropriations for that program, to repeal the termination of authority for that program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Facilitating Large-Scale Water Recycling and Reuse Projects Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="idF13DC66B7EB342D9A40588E9917F796B"><enum>2.</enum><header>Additional requirements for eligible projects, repeal of termination of authority, and additional authorization of appropriations for competitive grant program for large-scale water recycling and reuse projects</header><subsection id="idA28F4DE903EC498D92FE17E71E767727"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Eligible project</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 40905(c) of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/3205">43 U.S.C. 3205(c)</external-xref>) is amended by striking paragraph (4) and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id409BE7DB34FD460FB1D64E45667B1D1B"><paragraph id="id71dea66afe24472687a4af3c5c85fb7e"><enum>(4)</enum><text>is—</text><subparagraph id="id859548a5f1574c9184b63716558ab3df"><enum>(A)</enum><text>constructed, operated, and maintained by an eligible entity; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id59eb34f4262d471f858657eb22fcf996"><enum>(B)</enum><text>owned by an eligible entity; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="idD8965E3E98534362A4AF3DFD1BC3DDD1"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Repeal of termination of authority; additional authorization of appropriations</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 40905 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/43/3205">43 U.S.C. 3205</external-xref>) is amended by striking subsection (k) and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id7BB143AC7EF84835A71F46ADA884A47D"><subsection id="id775C34109F1A4482B83A6ADCDF19AB83"><enum>(k)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>In addition to the amounts made available to carry out this section under section 40901(4)(B), there is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $500,000,000, to remain available until expended.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
