<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4324</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220526">May 26, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S303">Mr. Thune</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S373">Mr. Cassidy</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S347">Mr. Moran</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S384">Mr. Tillis</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S378">Mr. Lankford</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To clarify that convictions for kidnapping or sexual abuse are grounds for inadmissibility and deportability under the Immigration and Nationality Act.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="idBD011C8DEF6D45F98AEB7B4DB1D0A9EA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Reverse Entry for Migrant Offenders and Violence Expulsion Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="id141F1F4BAD3E4398AD88DA1488BEBBE0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Grounds for inadmissibility</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 212(a)(2)(F) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1182">8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(2)(F)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id2F8BE0ABC44F47388AC7FE3FE83B2CC3"><subparagraph id="id7A273BBDD4D04235AC9999EDE67F8852"><enum>(F)</enum><header>Kidnapping; sexual abuse</header><text>Any alien who has been convicted of—</text><clause id="id4BEDF01C81B14CFCA59F34B70B628859"><enum>(i)</enum><text>any offense under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/18/55">chapter 55</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code (related to kidnapping); or</text></clause><clause id="idECC156B346E041D7B34AB0CC7DE848AC"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>any offense under chapter 109A of such title (related to sexual abuse),</text></clause><continuation-text continuation-text-level="subparagraph">is inadmissible.</continuation-text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section><section id="id740BC98D3CE64A76AF68CC9704C04904"><enum>3.</enum><header>Grounds for deportation</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 237(a)(2)(D)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1227">8 U.S.C. 1227(a)(2)(D)(i)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idE7A615D693FE4F628247E4415E98F62F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting <quote>chapter 55 (relating to kidnapping),</quote> after <quote>espionage),</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7BE04887A3AB479EBD152788B3B356DE"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting <quote>chapter 109A (relating to sexual abuse),</quote> after <quote>sabotage),</quote>.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
