<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><calendar>Calendar No. 491</calendar><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4254</legis-num><associated-doc role="report">[Report No. 117–150]</associated-doc><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220518" legis-day="20220517">May 18 (legislative day, May 17), 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S153">Mr. Grassley</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S380">Mr. Peters</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S382">Mr. Sasse</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S253">Mr. Durbin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S287">Mr. Cornyn</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S388">Ms. Hassan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S403">Ms. Sinema</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S284">Ms. Stabenow</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSGA00">Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><action stage="Reported-in-Senate"><action-date>September 20, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported by <sponsor name-id="S380">Mr. Peters</sponsor>, without amendment</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 to clarify a provision relating to certain contents of registrations under that Act.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id8e966649dfe04ccd8bc86dc81f8db2cf" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disclosing Foreign Influence in Lobbying Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="idEC3C30455FBA440DB3132A45A5E8F736"><enum>2.</enum><header>Clarification of contents of registration</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 4(b) of the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/1603">2 U.S.C. 1603(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id421BD1AA869E48539465B7125E7F2089"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (6), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idC7E59EE23A73434F8145C4260515CFDD"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (7), by striking <quote>the offense.</quote> and inserting the following: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="id851952C3282C4E2E804F1FA36BB3B3E3"><text>the offense; and</text><paragraph id="idd1cb182057f442fa8e05c3a9c3872f73"><enum>(8)</enum><text>notwithstanding paragraph (4), the name and address of each government of a foreign country (including any agency or subdivision of a foreign government, such as a regional or municipal unit of government) and foreign political party, other than the client, that participates in the direction, planning, supervision, or control of any lobbying activities of the registrant.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>September 20, 2022</action-date><action-desc>Reported without amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
