<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4160</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220505">May 5, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S287">Mr. Cornyn</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S337">Mr. Coons</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 40, United States Code, to grant the Supreme Court of the United States security-related authorities equivalent to the legislative and executive branches.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id3dc3da312ad2407eaa207b02e02fd68c"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authority to protect family members</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 6121(a)(2) of title 40, United States Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="id49FC296B12A14921BBC542162872D99C"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id04B39DFB3EF0410E875F911910F40ADB"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (B), by adding <quote>and</quote> after the semicolon; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idA104F2ECD29846248495E1C5EE61DEA9"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id54df04cc04844356bd43e664d396349a"><subparagraph id="id25903268323745bc8f5352cb25a95327"><enum>(C)</enum><text>any member of the immediate family of the Chief Justice, any Associate Justice, or any officer of the Supreme Court if the Marshal determines such protection is necessary.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
