<congress display="yes">117th CONGRESS</congress><session display="yes">2d Session</session><legis-num display="yes">S. 4119</legis-num><current-chamber display="no">IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><legis-type display="yes">AN ACT</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To reauthorize the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section id="S1" section-type="section-one" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id4A3C639A17E34E5FAC60BD0CAA78F9D0" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Reauthorization of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act</header><subsection id="id62383BFDE5174979A3A1319F1C0F227B" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3(d) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idd736311d8d0f4a788e3c498cb5a5a60c" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking the first sentence and inserting <quote>The Fund shall terminate on the date that is 2 years after the date of enactment of the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title>.</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idee9afb7dffad432db0372ec8061c1263" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>22-year period</quote> and inserting <quote>2-year period</quote>. </text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idF5AE314D8E27492AB7F016D306738E07" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Limitation on claims</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 8(a) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended by striking <quote>within 22 years after the date of the enactment of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Amendments of 2000</quote> and inserting <quote>not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date date="20220428" chamber="Senate">Passed the Senate April 28, 2022.</attestation-date><attestor display="no"></attestor><role>Secretary</role></attestation-group></attestation><endorsement display="yes"></endorsement></bill>
