<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4119</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220428">April 28, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S266">Mr. Crapo</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S409">Mr. Luján</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S359">Mr. Heinrich</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S403">Ms. Sinema</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S406">Mr. Kelly</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S323">Mr. Risch</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S402">Ms. Rosen</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S410">Ms. Lummis</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S401">Mr. Romney</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S370">Mr. Booker</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S408">Mr. Hickenlooper</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice, considered, read the third time, and passed</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To reauthorize the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id4A3C639A17E34E5FAC60BD0CAA78F9D0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Reauthorization of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act</header><subsection id="id62383BFDE5174979A3A1319F1C0F227B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3(d) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="idd736311d8d0f4a788e3c498cb5a5a60c"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking the first sentence and inserting <quote>The Fund shall terminate on the date that is 2 years after the date of enactment of the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title>.</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idee9afb7dffad432db0372ec8061c1263"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>22-year period</quote> and inserting <quote>2-year period</quote>. </text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idF5AE314D8E27492AB7F016D306738E07"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Limitation on claims</header><text>Section 8(a) of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/101/426">Public Law 101–426</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/2210">42 U.S.C. 2210</external-xref> note) is amended by striking <quote>within 22 years after the date of the enactment of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act Amendments of 2000</quote> and inserting <quote>not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of the <short-title>RECA Extension Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
