<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3942</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220329">March 29, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S369">Mr. Markey</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S307">Mr. Brown</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S247">Mr. Wyden</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S309">Mr. Casey</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S394">Ms. Smith</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S366">Ms. Warren</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S341">Mr. Blumenthal</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S413">Mr. Padilla</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 28, United States Code, to prohibit the exclusion of individuals from service on a Federal jury on account of disability.</official-title></form><legis-body display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause"><section section-type="section-one" id="S1"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Disabled Jurors Nondiscrimination Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id9aa353c353af48858529ab18a57d7c06"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion from Federal juries on account of disability</header><subsection id="id15A15F0F23F84ECC9EB433554D7963EA"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Discrimination prohibited</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1862 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by inserting <quote>disability,</quote> after <quote>origin,</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="idAB7C2C26EC2844258959EB3A0AB8776C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Qualifications for jury service</header><text>Section 1865 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idD9DD4EF6BF904503AA125EDAAA183ECA"><subsection id="id9B224C447EB24F72B83AC206816734D8"><enum>(c)</enum><text>No person may be disqualified from serving on grand and petit juries in the district court under paragraph (2) or (3) of subsection (b) on account of disability.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
