<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3789</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220310" legis-day="20220307">March 10 (legislative day, March 7), 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S353">Mr. Schatz</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SLIA00">Committee on Indian Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act to authorize grants to Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations, and for other purposes. </official-title></form><legis-body><section id="id790a7c408e6742d8b916c92cc1253bd4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Native American tourism grant programs</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/4351">25 U.S.C. 4351 et seq.</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="id4EB543B87F8A4DF281C6EA308DAED051"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating section 6 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/4355">25 U.S.C. 4355</external-xref>) as section 7; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idC066887CC964425CA23CB109206B4AAF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after section 5 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/4354">25 U.S.C. 4354</external-xref>) the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idB8C0785CD24D4DEB8A2E53D18A9DA8B4"><section id="id79CCDA3491F848B4859AA20E0F626CEE"><enum>6.</enum><header>Native American tourism grant programs</header><subsection id="id82E0C06EEDD346EAA957087E2AFDF8C4"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Bureau of Indian Affairs program</header><text>The Director of the Bureau of Indian Affairs may make grants to Indian tribes and tribal organizations to carry out the purposes of this Act, as described in section 2.</text></subsection><subsection id="id991b903764734d24a7a9091627654345"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Office of Native Hawaiian Relations</header><text>The Director of the Office of Native Hawaiian Relations may make grants to Native Hawaiian organizations to carry out the purposes of this Act, as described in section 2.</text></subsection><subsection id="id56f6ee8cdec24c4fa971d882aebf0b07"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary of the Interior to carry out this section such sums as may be necessary.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
