<official-title>To prohibit Federal funds from being made available to any preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, or secondary school that has a face mask mandate.</official-title>

<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Unmask Our Kids Act of 2022</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="id2a8e150a17984f44ad726bef3e5ded58"><enum>2.</enum><header>Requirement to rescind school face mask mandates to receive Federal funding</header> <subsection id="id36FD864274B14599A27135D2738BEB5E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section, the terms <term>elementary school</term>, <term>local educational agency</term>, <term>Secretary</term>, and <term>State educational agency</term> have the meanings given the terms in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/7801">20 U.S.C. 7801</external-xref>).</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="id453B1C4024C34DF99E66C5456724452A"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Requirement To rescind school mask mandates To receive federal funding</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No Federal funds shall be made available to any preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, or secondary school that—</text> <paragraph id="id5DF122B8D74449F782073B8A4486A453"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">mandates that students wear face masks while on school grounds or engaged in school-sponsored activities; or </text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="idB0EB9666A6C640EBB16A489DBD68F9E2"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">limits participation in school activities for students who voluntarily elect not to wear a face mask on school grounds or while engaged in school-sponsored activities.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="idacb29340ce1942398396895f1b7372d2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Ensuring compliance</header><text>The Secretary shall require each application for Federal assistance submitted to the Secretary by a State educational agency or local educational agency to attest that all preschools, kindergartens, elementary schools, and secondary schools receiving Federal funds served by the agency have rescinded any face mask mandate. </text></subsection></section>
