<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3450</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220110">January 10, 2022</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S375">Mr. Daines</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S314">Mr. Tester</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSEG00">Committee on Energy and Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to construct, operate, and maintain facilities in the Sun River project, Montana, for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Sun River Hydropower Authorization Act </short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="idB9C76AD31846455D9CF155F47C44B9CE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Authorization of Sun River Project, Montana</header><subsection id="id56A251EAB5394AB49D631FC1293AAD6E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Authorization</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Commissioner of Reclamation and pursuant to the reclamation laws, may construct, operate, and maintain facilities in the Sun River project, Montana, for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation.</text></subsection><subsection id="id64D6F69307964F8F963D140600C12AF4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effect</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The authorization under subsection (a) shall—</text><paragraph id="id0456B8F105B84A8C84BFD709B2B6D974"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">be in addition to any other authorizations for the Sun River project under existing law; and </text></paragraph><paragraph id="id0668E063BCA24D12B927ED8F0641625A"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">not limit, restrict, or alter operations of the Sun River project in a manner that would be adverse to the satisfaction of valid existing water rights or water deliveries to the holder of any valid water service contract. </text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
