<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2889</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210929">September 29, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S287">Mr. Cornyn</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSSB00">Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 to address the timing for the use of funds with respect to grants made to shuttered venue operators.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Save Our Stages Extension Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id4588F0A3C3AF4884AE23020C417EC09A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Grants for shuttered venue operators</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 324(d) of title III of division N of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/116/260">Public Law 116–260</external-xref>) is amended by striking paragraph (1) and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block id="idCF7FE95052DF4CC3A20672B6F8366E16" style="OLC" act-name=""><paragraph id="idC4063625BFCF4C9DBC4DE7BADB1BB126"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Timing</header><subparagraph id="idD3BA2E3459654026934693717F79D5BF"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Expenses incurred</header><text>Amounts received under a grant under this section may be used for costs incurred during the period beginning on March 1, 2020, and ending on March 11, 2023.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id5E69226018624B72BB814C2BF226F11B"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Expenditure</header><text>An eligible person or entity shall return to the Administrator any amounts received under a grant under this section that are not expended on or before April 15, 2023, with respect to costs incurred during the period described in subparagraph (A).</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
