<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 262</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210204">February 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S394">Ms. Smith</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S341">Mr. Blumenthal</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFI00">Committee on Finance</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To allow tax credits to State and local governments for paid sick leave and paid family and medical leave. </official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="HECF681F530F74E309C499A529791BF53"><section section-type="section-one" id="HBB9457138DC341D082ABF5569FAB8670"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Supporting State and Local Leaders Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H87B46E35EFE749E99D2BEBB4BD25E85F"><enum>2.</enum><header> State and local governments allowed tax credits for paid sick and paid family and medical leave</header><subsection id="HFFDD467405144A1295E2F8D365C8DD6B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Sections 7001(e)(4) and 7003(e)(4) of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act are each amended by striking <quote>, the government of any State or political subdivision thereof, or any agency or instrumentality of any of the foregoing</quote> and inserting <quote>or any agency or instrumentality of the United States</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="H1E0B44C064834BF8825B592AB625BB50"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall take effect as if included in the provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act to which they relate.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
