which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Public Health Service Act to provide for demonstration grants and create a Federal Work Group to reduce and prevent the incidence of teen dating violence.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as <quote><short-title>Bree’s Law</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id138687795cde48648f3de1d0b1e262c6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Teen dating violence prevention</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1708 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300u-7">42 U.S.C. 300u–7</external-xref>) is amended by—</text><paragraph id="idCA7ACCC331FF4B7B9C02E3660CA6D184"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">striking subsection (c) and inserting the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id0A10C11D9FA34E5EB99D7345573C246C"><subsection id="id01070473aff7425e93b6715356021a31"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Certain demonstration projects</header><paragraph id="id4c5ed2e475b94ac28b75214f4b5b2a14"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>In carrying out subsection (b)(3), the Secretary may make grants to carry out demonstration projects for the purpose of improving adolescent health, including— </text><subparagraph id="id7ff062a15f8a4522b2d7a5499344f1bc"><enum>(A)</enum><text>projects to train health care providers in providing services to adolescents; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id953b9c10239148f799ac37ff3d02846b"><enum>(B)</enum><text>projects to reduce the incidence of violence among adolescents, particularly violence related to teen dating, which shall include projects to develop and implement educational program to increase abuse awareness and prevention.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="iddc8b34ef22124988acbfeaa48412e43c"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><text>For the purpose of carrying out paragraph (1), there are authorized to be appropriated $10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2022 through 2026. </text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph id="idd63c2ac477464b3fb4fd88d75f821d3a" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idBE47A4C7B0274E578EFFB9E6B7CCB781"><subsection id="id93582221053c40408a1b0a4f2b3f4c80"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Interagency work group</header><paragraph id="id88e6ea4fbfd64f0aacf8e47b8107677f"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Establishment</header><text>The Secretary shall establish the Federal Interagency Work Group on Teen Dating Violence (referred to in this section as the <quote>Work Group</quote>).</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id86af4a59866c42d0923cc87d426eb22d"><enum>(2)</enum><header>In general</header><subparagraph id="id2d3087ff06bf4cbcbe9ef36b80c4fd2a"><enum>(A)</enum><header>Composition</header><text>Not later than 120 days after the date of enactment of <short-title>Bree’s Law</short-title>, the Secretary shall appoint representatives to the Work Group from the Administration for Children and Families, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Department of Education, the Department of Justice, and other Federal agencies as determined appropriate by the Secretary.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id4121ea2a27034b939518ac0bb33464a9"><enum>(B)</enum><header>Consultation</header><text>The Work Group shall consult with—</text><clause id="id47c5031f65334186afb821e0ae286a32"><enum>(i)</enum><text>experts at the State, Tribal, and local levels with relevant backgrounds in reducing and preventing the incidence of teen dating violence;</text></clause><clause id="ida3c67b751ba549b78f59da2d2d3a52c1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>victims of teen dating violence; and</text></clause><clause id="id0975deda02984c899f2541eeca2769db"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>family members of teens who were killed by a dating partner.</text></clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="idb1130bf637d642478725020ff52492d8"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Duties</header><text>The Work Group shall—</text><subparagraph id="ida8c90e97070a421986b4da790ab59b44"><enum>(A)</enum><text>examine all Federal efforts directed towards reducing and preventing teen dating violence;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id632646f03aef4ebcb7ae1a29cf69e4db"><enum>(B)</enum><text>identify strategies, resources, and supports to improve State, Tribal, and local responses to the incidence of teen dating violence;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="ida2711d56ac084780b3ba99c5e84ee565"><enum>(C)</enum><text>make recommendations to Congress for improving Federal programs and efforts and coordination across such programs and efforts to reduce and prevent teen dating violence; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="id0d0ed2c66c9c4cdbbea92cd7562b093f"><enum>(D)</enum><text>make recommendations for educating middle and high school students on teen dating violence.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id191bdacae5894ccb9e362fdc4a23b333"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Annual report to Secretary</header><text>The Work Group shall annually prepare and submit to the Secretary, the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions of the Senate, and the Committee on Education and Labor of the House of Representatives, a report on the activities carried out by the Work Group under subsection (c), including recommendations to reduce and prevent teen dating violence.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
