<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>117th CONGRESS</congress><session>1st Session</session><legis-num>S. 2330</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20210713">July 13, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S153">Mr. Grassley</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S311">Ms. Klobuchar</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSAF00">Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 to clarify certain matters relating to State funding, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Assisting Broadband Connectivity Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id575379CC71C146E09236CC2F25F8AC90"><enum>2.</enum><header>State funding under Rural Utilities Service programs</header><subsection id="id89197B142FED4B66B771B6D29CCF4F47"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Eligibility of projects that receive State funding</header><text>Title VII of the Rural Electrification Act of 1936 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/950cc">7 U.S.C. 950cc et seq.</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id2E13A18FC703454290A0A3C2A848093B"><section id="id30C9798E0209426BBAC2194F0FCC2180"><enum>704.</enum><header>Eligibility of projects that receive State funding</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In administering any broadband or telecommunications program, the Secretary, acting through the Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service, shall not determine that a project is ineligible for funding because the project has received funding from a State.</text></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="id37FC6EABF6734505918B2D33D27D108F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>State funds To satisfy matching requirements</header><text>For purposes of any matching funds requirement under any program administered by the Secretary of Agriculture, acting through the Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service, an applicant for funding under that program may use funds received from a State program (including funds received by a State from the Federal Government) to satisfy the matching funds requirement.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
